Twinwall Inspection Chambers - When To Use Twinwall?
Inspection Chambers are an important part of an underground drainage system, providing access for testing, inspecting and clearing blockages.
Our Twinwall Inspection chambers are perfect for use alongside our Twinwall Drainage System which is for use in surface water and stormwater applications. Twinwall pipe is used to remove water from a surface that gets boggy or struggles with standing water and flooding transporting it to a collection point.
Strong High Performing Twinwall
Twinwall is much stronger than standard PVC drainage, our Twinwall Drainage is manufactured from HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene). This pipe is very strong and is ideal for use beneath paths, roads, airports and railways. It is also commonly used in the construction of infrastructure for the leisure, agricultural and commercial sectors.
Twinwall Pipe has a smooth inner bore for high flow rates with ribbed outer wall adds compressive strength. This enables the pipe to withstand much heavier forces than normal PVC pipes.
Because Twinwall can come in large diameters it is suitable for a range of larger-scale purposes including flood management and attenuation. The bigger the diameter of the pipe the more effective it will be. That said there could be a risk that it could make the ground too dry if too large a system is installed.
Twinwall Inspection Chambers
Manufactured by Turtle Enviro, our Accesso Twinwall Inspection Chambers are designed to comply with BS EN 13598-2 and with Sewers for Adoption – SfA7, as well as Section H of the Building Regulations.
In March 2020, Sewers for Adoption 8 (SfA 8) was due to be published, replacing SfA7. This was superseded by Ofwat’s - Code for Agreements and part of the implementation of these Agreements, has been the introduction of the Design and Construction Guidance (DCG). Specifiers, engineers, consultants and water companies and now adopting this document throughout the UK for Adoptable and also Non-Adoptable Drainage Design.
Parts B & C of the DCG, define the designs of two types of Inspection Chamber - Type D and E Within Part C, of the Guidance, regards these designs, it stipulates that: “Inspection chambers and manholes must have a minimum 50mm fall from the side inlet to the main channel". All Accesso Inspection Chamber bases comply with this.
