Coach Bolts

Most commonly used in the construction and timber trades, coach bolts are a round head bolt with a square underside.

Often referred to as carriage bolts or cup square hex bolts thanks to their history - these bolts were used to fix metal straps to the wood of horse-drawn carriages with the square head holding the bolt firm as the nut was tightened!

Our zinc plated bolts are available in a range of sizes, and all have metric coarse threads and come with a matching hex nut (please order nuts separately if purchasing stainless steel coach bolts).

Ordinarily, coach bolts are made from mild steel in strength grades 4.6 or 4.8. Our BZP coach bolts are usually marked with the strength grade and manufacturer I.D on the head.
