Expanding Anchors

Fixings that use expansion force to fix items into concrete and masonry are often referred to as expanding anchors.

We stock shield anchors and through bolts, two common and useful expanding anchors used frequently in the construction industry.

A Video Introduction To Shield Anchors & Through Bolts

Shield Anchors

Shield Anchors, or rawlbolts as they’re commonly known, are general purpose expanding anchors. When tightened, they spread the expansion force across the whole length of the shield, forcing it to grip around the inside of the hole.

Through Bolts

Through Bolts are ideal for fixing handrails, park benches, shelters and other similar items into concrete. Their tapered wedge and sleeve at the end of the thread helps the bolt expand and grip when tightened into concrete.

In this instance, the drill diameter required for the hole is the same as the bolt size - for example, an M10x75 Through Bolt would require the use of a 10mm drill.
