Hygiene Cladding - Features & Benefits

What is Hygiene Cladding?

Hygiene Cladding is the name given to a particular type of PVC Sheeting that has been developed to keep walls and ceilings clean and free from all types of dirt and germs. There are various grades available and it is generally a cost-effective solution to the problem of maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the long term. Hygiene Cladding is usually found in commercial or public buildings or in institutions such as schools, universities and hospitals.

Are there Different Grades or is all Hygiene Cladding the Same?

We offer two different grades of Hygiene Cladding. Our standard board is a foamed PVC board which is perfect for any type of industrial, public or even domestic installation where a general easy-clean wall finish is required. For any type of catering or clinical installation we recommend the use of our Stormclad board, which is a solid PVC Sheet with a very high resistance to heat and chemicals.

Is this Range Available in Different Sizes?

Yes, there are a wide range of sheet sizes available, although the most popular size is generally 1220mmx 2440mm (which is the old 8ft x 4ft sheet). Different sheet thicknesses are also available; the choice of thickness is usually governed by the situation in which the sheets are to be installed. Food Grade Hygiene Cladding comes in one thickness only as it is a solid board.

Is it Hygiene Cladding Difficult to Install?

The cladding sheets themselves are installed using our Stormgrip bonding adhesive. Joints, corners and edges are all finished with standard PVC finishing trims - the same type of profiles that you would generally use with external PVC Cladding. The sheets themselves are easy to fabricate and form.

Does Hygiene Cladding carry a Fire Rating?

Yes, the sheets carry a Class 1 Fire Rating, which means that not only do they support the spread of flame, they are also self-extinguishing - crucial for clinical, catering or learning institutions.

What other Properties do these Sheets have?

Both types of hygiene sheet are non-toxic and offer excellent insulation properties. They have excellent levels of chemical resistance and low water absorption. One other key feature enjoyed by this range is its high impact resistance and strength. The standard range has a strong laminated finish which has an excellent strength to weight ratio, and the Stormclad sheets, made from solid PVC, are exceptionally tough and difficult to damage.

What Else Can these Hygiene Cladding Sheets be Used For?

The Stormclad sheet is UV Stabilised and weather resistant. These features, when combined with the fact that sheets are easy to work with has led to this type of Cladding becoming very popular with the printing and signwriting industries - it is suitable for use with both digital and traditional printing methods. Hygiene Cladding can also be frequently cleaned without any adverse reaction, another reason that signwriters favour its use as a backing board.
